Chapter 9

Double Silence

Silence is like a pregnant pause ready to be birth. Silence in its own right is a form of communication, and when it is well-orchestrated, it can be as effective as verbal communication.

A pregnant pause during communication is seen as the gap between sentences which makes the hearers sit to listen attentively.

In silence, you have not yet received the main message, and therefore, you have to be at attention because the message is on the other side of that pause. That pause is not silent, it is full of answers.

For example, a simple telephone conversation or an interview may have a pregnant pause or silence in between the conversations.

Usually, the pause from the interviewer is to stir the other party to start talking, so as to get more information, whether related to the topic or not.

Sometimes, God operates in silence, and unfortunately, people do not like silence. God is just okay with your silence and does the most amazing things in silence.

She was silent: so were they

Whatever she does, she acknowledges God. She acknowledged God in everything and never took anything for granted, and this was what set her apart.

May I ask, what sets you apart in your community, in your nation, and as a leader? Have you been working so hard to fit in or to stand out?

Well, let me remind you that, you were born to be different, unique, and controversial. The world is looking for leaders who are ready to stand out and make a positive shift.

She was a new and emerging leader, and all eyes were on her, but guess what? She stumbled. If a well-known leader stumbles, he or she may have one or two people to stand by him or her.

When you are a new and emerging leader, no one may stand by you and it may be fatal, almost impossible to rise up again when you stumble.

But if you have been destined to rise, destined to increase, and destined to lead, even when you have made mistakes and have taken some risks, you will eventually be able to rise up to your call as a leader.

The stumble of a leader is inevitable and if it happened, it was meant to happen. You can never lead without a stumble.

She had a vision, and she had an assignment, but in order for her assignment to be successful, she had to stumble.

And who would have seen the stumble beforehand to give a warning? Have you ever had a problem in the most unlikely place?

All hell can break loose when you have got it all together. Her stumble was no accident, neither was it a surprise.

The threshing floor is where stumbling occurs, it occurs so that wheat can be separated from the chaffs. This separates what will make a leader from what will prevent the making of a leader.

When you are walking without a stumble, you will hear the applause, you will see the banners, the comments, and the love, but when you stumble, there will suddenly be a silence.

The silence may either be from the emerging leader that stumbled or from those that were meant to say something.

If you become disappointed with the sudden silence, it is because you relied on people initially and failed to differentiate between your confidants, comrades, and constituents.

You will not actually know what you have inside of you as a leader till you get to the threshing floor or stumble.

So, when you see a leader, you should not just be looking at looks, you should be checking or asking, is he or she tough enough to stand a blow?

How could she have made it alone and redefined herself regardless of what people said or did to her? How could she have made it in the midst of all that, and survived it?

Do you not get it? She was born tough to withstand tough, for her assignment on earth is tough so was her stumble.

Have you been through the threshing floors that she has been through or similar? Can she encourage you?

Don’t give up, rise up above the bad atmosphere, and be the leader or great person that you were destined to be.

A stumble only lets you know what you did wrong or what your weak points were. Your stumble is to pull you to order. Your stumble will not so much kill you but will prepare you and prevent you from making such a mistake in a place where the stumble will be more costly.

Your shining star will not tell you what is wrong with you, your stumble is what will point it out to you.

Pardon me to say that these days we have articulate idiots and the wise illiterates. Wisdom is from God not from a man, so embrace your mistakes and seek wisdom from God.

Why did she go silent all of a sudden? Let her pregnant pause be her answer. Why did her friends and family and her community go silent? Let their pregnant pauses be their answers.

It was not the enemies who continued speaking that was the point, it was the silence of the people who were supposed to speak up.
