Chapter 2
A step forward
That first step
A creative-minded person can move in-between spaces, with minimum waste, and with maximum productivity. Every step taken should be acknowledged and celebrated.
Never take for granted that first step you have taken. It is far better to take one small step than to remain stagnant. Do not despise the days of your small beginnings. Tiny drops of water form a big ocean, also remember that both a tiny drop of water and a mighty ocean can save a life, they are both significant in different ways.
Can two people work together, unless they have the same vision driving them? Perhaps yes. If you are a gifted person, ready to unleash, you will find it difficult to be enclosed in a cage, or should I say being bound with a particular set of thoughts, with a particular group of people and in a particular setting. Therefore, choose your company wisely.
As the saying goes "birds of the same feathers flock together". You have to keep a company of people who will challenge you and your ideas, and who will also help you fulfill your dreams. Don’t waste your potentials, they are gifts from God. See to it that you move away from your comfort zone and, utilize all the gifts that God has entrusted you with.
Don’t get trapped below the level of thinking, and abilities that God has blessed you with. You have to understand that, even though you have been gifted with God’s gifts, it will be your responsibility to use them and be accountable for how you use them.
A lot of people have dreams and visions with thoughts about so many great things that they can achieve, and the truth is that, if you can dream it, you can certainly do it.
Fear! Yes, fear, that negative spirit can be attributed to the reason why many people are unable to bring their dreams to life. Ruth Gendler, an author, and artist once said that "Fear has a large shadow, but he himself is small" Fear is invisible, yet destructive. Remember that God also is invisible, but He has the power to overcome fear if you trust in Him.
So, you see, it doesn't matter how huge or how small your first step is, what matters is that you have taken a step forward to change something that concerns you and the world around you.
It took me a while to get this. Do you know that if you simply release all your wrongdoings by simply confessing them, and accept Jesus Christ into your life to reform you, you will be gifted with the Holy Spirit and the fruits that come with Him? The Holy Spirit that God gives us, is the Spirit of goodness and a Spirit of self-control that will help you achieve your dreams, as opposed to the negative spirit of fear that limits one's ability.
For your creativity to truly unleash, why don’t you take that first bold step of analyzing yourself. When you do so, you will see that things may not look so perfect, not the way you want, but if you can partner with God, you will soon realize that there is more about you, yet to be discovered.
Dance to your own rhythm
Just as we cannot live without a pulse and its rhythm, we also cannot take steps without a rhythm. Your life has got a rhythm, and your many gifts and God-given talents should flow like a river in a rhythm too.
You may not be able to have it all running at the same time, but you can certainly use all of your gifts at any point in time. You have to set a rhythm to keep it all running and functional.
There has to be a continuous flow of the rhythm of your gifts, ideas, and concepts. You don't want to be that hitman who sold a million copies, and that was the last heard of him. You want to have stability and continuity. Remember that God is eternal, and as long as you are in partnership with Him, your ideas should never run dry.
If you take a good look at jugglers, for instance, when they toss their many balls into the air, way up high and catch them back, they are balanced in a rhythm and they have got control over the tossing, they also cannot hold on to too many balls at the same time. They have to hold on to one or two and release the other balls into the air to maintain balance.
The true art of juggling, or let us just call it creativity, is the ability to maintain a rhythm. It is the same with your skills and gifts, you have to learn how to manage them properly.
It is possible to multitask but the choice will be yours depending on your ability and capability. You can decide to explore all of your gifts at once or to get done with a gift and activate another one as you go.
You can possibly juggle all the jungles of your life without living in the jungle. You have to learn how to juggle life without losing your faith, your hope, and the gifts and opportunities that God has blessed you with.
You have to maintain your balance, do not lose your momentum or dimension, stay true to yourself and apply self-control. You know what you want, so go for it.
