DESTINYTalks Music Box Experience
Destiny Talks Music Box is an initiative of Destiny Talks, it targets Victorians who are affected by a form of mental health illness through the art of music. Destiny Talks Music Box aims to restore peace of mind, love, joy, laughter, comfort, and purpose back to people who have lost their sense of purpose due to a form of mental illness.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2008, one in five Victorians will experience a mental health condition, and 45 percent of Victorians will experience one during their lifetime.
Mental health is a crucial part of a person’s life. A person’s psychological and emotional well-being is a determinant of a fulfilled life that can affect an individual, family, and community.
Statistics from the Australian Bureau show that mental illness can negatively impact Victoria, its well-being, social, cultural, and economic status.
Research suggests that music improves wellbeing and quality of life. A review of 26 studies conducted across several countries including Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States found that music can provide a clinically significant boost to a person’s mental health.
The studies found out that there are benefits of music on mental health. Destiny Talks has achieved using music to boost the mental health status of individuals, locally and internationally.
Destiny Talks Music Box is another project of Destiny talks that aims to use the art of music to support Victorians affected with a form of mental illness, their families, and the Victorian community.
Destiny Talks 'main objectives are to add to the social, cultural, and economic status of Victoria through music. It aims to carry out its objectives by promoting social connection through various music genres produced by Destiny Talks. It also promotes cultural awareness among the culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in Victoria. This project among others will also boost the economy of Victoria by creating job opportunities, it will also create avenues for others to create more music that will help reduce the statistics of people affected by mental illness.
Destiny Talks Music Box has been delivered to Werribee Mercy Hospital: Mental Health Department
